Australian Lowline Cattle were developed from the Angus breed which originated in Scotland. The American Lowline Registry was established in the late 1990's. Membership has grown rapidly and these cattle are being exhibited at major fairs and shows around the nation. Mature Lowline cows are 650 to 700 lbs. and are 39 to 42 inches tall. Bulls will reach 1000-1500 lbs. The steers finish at between 600-700 lbs. Lowlines do not need grain to reach full maturity. Compared to other beef breeds, Lowline cattle show a 40% increase in retail product yield per acre off of grass.
